Cron Expression Builder
Cron Expression Builder – Visual Cron Scheduler & Next Run Times
About Cron Expression Builder
A Cron Expression Builder is a utility designed to compile crontab schedule syntax visually. Instead of memorizing quartz or unix cron timings, configure fields with UI sliders and see scheduled fire times in real time.
How It Works
The builder compiles your selected minutes, hours, days, months, and weekdays into a valid 5- or 6-field crontab string. It iterates the schedule state forward in time to project the next 10 trigger intervals in your local time zone.
How to Use Cron Expression Builder
- Configure each cron parameter (minutes, hours, day of month, month, day of week) using the visual sliders or checklist menus.
- Toggle between 5-field (Unix) and 6-field (Quartz) cron settings depending on your scheduling daemon.
- Check the visual description box for a plain-English translation of your schedule configuration.
- View the next 10 calculated run times at the bottom of the tool, and copy the resulting string to your clipboard.
FAQ
Five-field or six-field cron?
Five fields by default (minute, hour, day-of-month, month, day-of-week) — the Unix/POSIX convention. Toggle to six-field mode for systems that include a seconds column like Quartz.
Under the hood
A small hand-written parser tokenises each field, expands ranges and step values into a sorted Uint8Array, and the schedule iterator walks forward by jumping to the next valid minute instead of testing every minute.
