What is an MCP server?
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude safely use real tools instead of only chatting. An MCP server is the bridge between the AI and one tool, so the agent can actually run tasks in it.
Which AI agents work with these?
Any MCP-compatible client, including Claude and Claude Code, and a growing list of other agents. The protocol is open, so the same server works across them.
Is it safe to give an AI access?
You decide the scope. Servers can run read-only, be limited to specific accounts, and destructive actions can require confirmation. The Hetzner server, for example, is read-only by default.
